The worrying Hurricanes injury list keeps on growing with the news that All Blacks back-row Victor Vito is out for six to eight weeks.

The worrying Hurricanes injury list keeps on growing with the news that All Blacks back-row Victor Vito is out for six to eight weeks.

Vito went down injured during Wednesday's training session after rupturing his posterior cruciate ligament.

The 26-year-old, who has 22 caps for New Zealand, joins a treatment room that already includes Brad Shields, Tim Bateman and Matt Proctor.

Losing both Shields and Vito from the back-row depletes coach Mark Hammett's options at the back of the scrum, with Jack Lam, Faifili Levave and Ardie Savea left on the flanks with Blade Thomson the remaining number eight.

The Hurricanes face the Crusaders in their final pre-season friendly on Friday, before travelling to South Africa for their opening game of the tournament against the Sharks.
