All Black forwards Victor Vito and Dominic Bird have returned to New Zealand and will play no part in Saturday’s Test against Wales.

All Black loose forward Victor Vito and lock Dominic Bird have returned to New Zealand and will play no part in Saturday’s Test against Wales.

Vito has a calf injury suffered during last weekend’s tough win over Scotland at Murrayfield.

With just one tour game left, Bird is no longer needed as Brodie Retallick has recovered from his shoulder injury. Patrick Tuipulotu is also now fully fit and can provide cover if needed.

“[Vito] is disappointed,” said Hansen.

“He waited a long time to get that opportunity after being injured during the June series and to be injured again is pretty disappointing so Super Rugby is going to be important for him.”

Good news for Kiwi fans however is the return of centre Conrad Smith, who briefly headed back home for personal reasons but will link up with the squad in Cardiff on Monday.
