Springbok head coach Allister Coetzee has prevented his assistant Johan van Graan from taking up a position at Premiership club Bath.
Reports in the UK last week suggested that former Bok coach Heyneke Meyer was set to be appointed as Bath's new director of rugby and it appears that he is keen for Van Graan, who was also Meyer's assistant from 2012 to 2015, to join him.
Van Graan was the only assistant coach from Meyer's tenure who was also appointed to Coetzee's backroom staff.
And Coetzee has now revealed that he informed Van Graan, who is in charge of the Boks' attack and lineout play, that he will not be released from his SA Rugby contract.
"Johann is a person of integrity," Coetzee told Netwerk24.
"Having been contacted by an English club, he constantly kept myself and (SA Rugby chief) Jurie Roux informed.
"I have great respect and appreciation for his contribution as a coach. This is the reason I gave him when I told him he is not going anywhere."
