The Bulls have announced that their Springbok prop Marcel van der Merwe has signed a contract with Top 14 outfit Toulon.
Van der Merwe, who has represented his country in seven Tests, will join Toulon at the end of this year's Super Rugby season.
The 25-year-old was recently named in the South Africa A squad for their two-match series against the England Saxons.
Van der Merwe made his senior debut for the Free State Cheetahs in 2011 at Currie Cup level and went on to play for them in Super Rugby before moving to the Bulls in 2014.
His move to Toulon should boost the former European champions after their boss Bernard Laporte admitted last month that the club failed in their efforts to replace former All Blacks prop Carl Hayman this season.
