Sonny Bill Williams has decided against playing in next month's rugby league World Cup, adding weight to a likely union return.
Sonny Bill Williams has made himself unavailable for the rugby league World Cup next month, fuelling speculation he may be planning a return to union.
Williams, who was a member of the All Blacks team that won the Rugby World Cup in 2011, on Tuesday forfeited the chance to become a Rugby World Cup winner in both codes of the game.
He also won a Super Rugby title in 2012 with the Chiefs before switching codes and winning Australia's NRL last weekend with the Roosters.
Williams is yet to reveal whether he will remain in league or return to union, most likely to the Chiefs.
