Two-week suspension for Hill

Date published: February 16 2017

Exeter Chiefs second-row Jonathan Hill has been banned for two weeks for striking with the shoulder, contrary to Law 10.4(a).

Hill pleaded guilty and is free to play again on Tuesday, 28 February.

He was sent off by referee Greg Garner in the Premiership match between Exeter and Wasps for striking Ashley Johnson of Wasps in the head with his shoulder.

In agreement with the RFU and Exeter, the charge was dealt with by a sole Judicial Officer on the papers.

“The contact to Ashley Johnson’s head was reckless but caused no injury. In line with the new sanction table Judicial Officers are required to apply a mid-range entry point,” said Daniel White, the Judicial Officer.

The player received credit for his guilty plea and clean record.
