Twelvetrees wants to continue momentum

Gloucester centre Billy Twelvetrees was delighted with his side’s character after they came from behind to beat Bristol 26-18 on Saturday.

Trailing 6-0 at the break, the Cherry and Whites clicked in the second-half and went on to claim a bonus-point win in the home Premiership clash.

Twelvetrees was understandably happy to collect five points and believes they dug in when it mattered, allowing them to walk away pleased.

“The message was very clear at half-time, we knew what we needed to do in the second half. We showed some great character to get the five points,” he told the Gloucester website when speaking after the Premiership win.

“We slowed off the intensity in the last five minutes and Bristol scored twice which was frustrating. We know we’ve got to be on it all the time if we’re going to have more games like we had against Wasps a few weeks ago.”

That win means Gloucester have amassed 11 points from a possible 15 in the last three weeks and with attention now turning to Europe and a home clash with La Rochelle in the Challenge Cup, Twelvetrees is focused on continuing their good form against the French side.

“The five points is a big boost going into this European double header. Taking 10 points from the last two home games has been massive for us,” he added, with La Rochelle sitting top of Pool 1 by points difference after both sides picked up back-to-back bonus-point victories.
