Twelvetrees in danger of missing out

England centre Billy Twelvetrees is reportedly set to be one of the casualties from Stuart Lancaster's next round of squad cuts.

Twelvetrees and Kyle Eastmond could miss out on the centre spots in England's World Cup squad with Brad Barritt, Jonathan Joseph, Luther Burrell and one of Sam Burgess or Henry Slade ahead of them in the running according to the Daily Telegraph.

Nine players are expected to be cut from the 45-man squad on Friday following the team's training camp in Denver.

Twelvetrees was previously earmarked as Lancaster's ideal fit at inside centre with his playmaking abilities and experience as a fly-half, leading him to start all five matches in the 2014 Six Nations.

His last start came in the win over Australia at Twickenham last November.

However a lack of consistency for England led to him losing his number 12 shirt to Luther Burrell earlier this year.

Burgess and Slade will reportedly start outside Danny Cipriani for the warm-up Test against France on August 15.

Lee Dickson, Matt Kvesic, Matt Mullan and Marland Yarde are all reportedly also set to miss out.
