Turbos win in Wellington

Manawatu finished their ITM Cup season on a high note on Saturday as they beat Championship hopefuls Wellington 39-33 at Westpac Stadium.

The Turbos scored five tries in all as Callum Gibbins, Heiden Bedwell, Toby Morland, Nathan Tudreu and Newton Tudreu went over at the Cake Tin.

In reply Ardie Savea, Jason Woodward, Jeff Toomaga-Allen, Reg Goodes and Cory Jane scored for Wellington but Otere Black's boot was the difference.

Black kicked fourteen points in all for Manawatu with Woodward only managing eight for the Lions, who missed the chance to top of the Championship.

They will still have a home semi-final though and face Otago in that game while Manawatu, despite their win, finish last in the Premiership standings.
