Manu Tuilagi has been selected in England's 23-man squad to face Italy in Rome this weekend in the final round of the Six Nations.

The Leicester Tigers centre is named in the squad for the first time since tearing a pectoral muscle last year.

Tuilagi's inclusion comes at the expense of Alex Goode, who returns to Saracens.

Forwards:

David Attwood, Dylan Hartley, Tom Johnson, Joe Launchbury, Courtney Lawes, Joe Marler, Ben Morgan, Chris Robshaw, Henry Thomas, Mako Vunipola, David Wilson, Tom Wood, Tom Youngs

Backs:

Mike Brown, Luther Burrell, Danny Care, Lee Dickson, Owen Farrell, George Ford, Jonny May, Jack Nowell, Manusamoa Tuilagi, Billy Twelvetrees

Matt Mullan and Kyle Eastmond will travel with the squad on Thursday afternoon as 24th and 25th men.

“Every member of the squad has contributed to the cause over the last seven weeks and those not involved this weekend deserve massive credit for the way they have trained and pushed hard for places,” said England head coach Stuart Lancaster.

“There will be opportunities down the line, not least on the tour to New Zealand, and they can further stake their claims for that trip with strong performances for their clubs.

“Manu trained well with us last week and today and is up to speed with the way we want to play. Alex Goode has done well for us off the bench and is naturally disappointed but we believe Manu, with the power and physicality he can bring, is the right choice to be included in the 23 for this game.”

Returning to Aviva Premiership clubs:

Chris Ashton, Brad Barritt, Freddie Burns, Alex Goode, Matt Kvesic, Ed Slater, Anthony Watson, Marland Yarde, Ben Youngs
