Cash-rich European and Top 14 holders Toulon are said to be lining up a move for prolific Wallaby sensation, Israel Folau.

Club owner, comic book mogul Mourad Boudjellal, spoke earlier this year of his “crazy idea” to add an unnamed quartet of global stars to his already stellar roster.

“In a year, I will try to do the biggest thing I've ever done [in the transfer market],” said Boujellal. “I have an idea in my head, a crazy idea; I will try to make it happen. There are 'quatre fantastiques' in the rugby world, I truly want to do that Grand Slam.”

And French paper Midi Olympique report that cross-code international Folau has opened talks with the French giants.

“I love the opportunity to travel through rugby and play in places I would never go if I played league or Australian Rules,” said Folau. “I think this is one of the best things in rugby; for example the opportunity to play in France or Japan.

“I think at one time or another in my career I will move elsewhere. I cannot wait to see the different doors that could be opened for me in the future. But for now, I feel very happy with the Waratahs and Wallabies.”

Reports also suggest Reds scrum-half Will Genia, left out of both opening Test squads this month to tackle France by Australia boss Ewen McKenzie, may also be on his way to the Top 14, with newly-promoted Lyon said to be chasing his signature.
