TMO call frustrates Dragons

Dragons head coach Bernard Jackman was once again left fuming over a TMO call after their 35-18 defeat to Edinburgh on Friday.

The hosts emerged victorious through tries from Blair Kinghorn, Sam Hidalgo-Clyne, Junior Rasolea and Robbie Fruean. The Dragons only managed to score points through Gavin Henson's educated boot.

In the 57th minute, however, Dragons number eight Harri Keddie went over for what looked to be a game changing try. South African referee Stuart Berry awarded the try but Scottish television match official Charles Samson decided that TMO footage showed wing Hallam Amos’ left foot had hit the touchline.

This was a very close call a week after the TMO in the 39-16 loss to Leinster failed to spot a hold on flanker James Thomas in the build-up move to a try as well as a knock-on prior to another try.

“Last week Greg Garner accepted that the TMO was wrong – we went through the proper channels and the head of referees accepted there were blatant errors – and we will have a close look at this one because it looks like a try,” Jackman told the South Wales Argus.

“Away from home you don’t get the rub of the green so we just have to wear it I suppose and the referee wasn’t the reason we lost the game to Edinburgh, he was good.”
