Tigers intent pleases Parling

Leicester lock Geoff Parling enjoyed seeing his side's attacking mindset bear fruit in their comfortable win over Sale Sharks.

The Tigers triumphed 28-8 at Welford Road in Parling's first game back for a month after suffering a knee injury.

Winning has leapfrogged Leicester above Sale into sixth place after their 10th win in 16 league games this season.

"It was a good performance, especially in the first half. The intent to play was outstanding from us and it was a good win," Parling told the club's website.

"It wasn't just the set-piece, I thought the way we worked together around the pitch was really good. The guys were geeing each other up, telling each other to work that bit harder, and were outstanding in that.

"We didn't have that fluency in the second half, but we'll take the win. We'll certainly look at the positives in the attacking intent and work-rate for each other."

Leicester will next face Parling's old club, Newcastle, with the soon-to-be Exeter lock expecting a different challenge.

"Newcastle are playing very well and they have some dangerous runners," Parling added. "It will be a different challenge to today.

"We just want to take the intent and the attitude from the first half and build on that."
