Leicester second-row forward Brad Thorn admits he has “never known anything like” the injury problems troubling the Tigers during 2014/15.
The 39-year-old World Cup winner, who made his Premiership debut against Gloucester last week, has joined a squad decimated by injury issues.
Despite a long career with the Brisbane Broncos, Crusaders, Leinster and other high-profile sides, Thorn has been shocked by the scale of ailments.
“This Leicester side has a lot of quality players in it but a huge amount of them are out injured,” the second-row forward told the Leicester Mercury.
“I have never known anything like it with that many out. It’s ridiculous.
“At the Broncos we had our whole backline go down once, but even then, at least we still had our pack.
“I was thinking about how many we had missing just from the pack. There is Logo (Mulipola), Marcos Ayerza and Dan Cole. In the second row, there’s Geoff Parling, Louis Deacon and Ed Slater.
“I have never seen this scale of injury.”
