Ireland and Ulster have suffered a setback after Jared Payne was ruled out for at least three months with a kidney injury suffered last week.

Payne sustained the injury in the first-half of the Australia match.

In a statement from Ireland, it was also confirmed that Andrew Trimble has a tendon issue in his foot following the Australia clash which should only keep him out of action for a couple of weeks while Rob Kearney was removed from the pitch as a precaution in the same fixture.
