Thomson can’t wait to get started

Reds signing Adam Thomson is ‘super-motivated’ to success in Brisbane after returning to Super Rugby from Japan.

A major signing for the 2011 champions, along with Karmichael Hunt and James O’Connor, coach Richard Graham will be looking to integrate Thomson as quickly as possible.

Thomson admitted on his arrival that he is slightly leaner than his previous time in Super Rugby, while he has also recovered from a shoulder injury that forced him to miss the end of the Japanese season.

The former All Black, who won 29 caps, could make his first appearance for the Reds in a pre-season clash with the Crusaders.

“Up against the old foe straight away… it’s good to hit the ground running,” Thomson told Fox Sports.

“I’m super-motivated after the time away. Playing for the Barbarians (against the Wallabies) last November in London lit the fire to play Super Rugby again.

“There some major drive there and I’d like to make a mark for the Reds.

“I’ve done three good weeks of rehab so hopefully I’m on track. I’m certainly match-fit and playing a bit leaner because of the running style of Japanese rugby.”
