The Dragons have announced that 24-year-old back-row forward James Thomas has extended his contract with the Guinness PRO12 region.
He has previously captained premiership side Bedwas as well as playing for Ebbw Vale and has earned international age grade honours.
After recovering from two serious knee injuries, Thomas made the move back to regional rugby from premiership rugby and has appeared 14 times for the Men of Gwent this season.
“It feels good to have signed for the Dragons,” he said.
“It’s fantastic to have a full-time professional contract with the Dragons meaning that I can now focus on my rugby 100 percent.”
Director of Rugby, Lyn Jones added: “It’s great to have a Gwent born rugby player who succeeds when given chances.
“He has impressed following a difficult start and has since been selected on merit.
“I look forward to watching him improve over the coming months in becoming a very good regional rugby player.”
