This weekend’s predictions

Date published: January 29 2016

It is that time of the week when we put our heads on the chopping block with Planet Rugby's predictions.

The battle for the last eight in the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup have been decided meaning a return to the domestic leagues.

That means plenty of opportunities to explore in the Premiership, PRO12 and Top 14 when using Paddy Power.

Let's take a look.

Saracens v Bath

Bath's miserable losing run doesn't look like improving with a trip to Saracens, who have lost just one in all competitions so far this season!

Still, stranger things have happened. Both teams are without a number of international players ahead of the Six Nations, forcing Mark McCall and Mike Ford to rotate their squads.

Bath come in as 7/2 outsiders and Scotland international Duncan Taylor, who re-signed with the club on Friday, looks a good pick as the first try scorer at 9/1.

Maro Itoje, released by England this week, is 4/1 as an anytime scorer, while new Bath signing Dan Bowden is down at 6/1.

We fancy the Premiership champions, heavy favourites at 1/5, to clinch this one by eight points.

Other Premiership results:

Northampton v Wasps: Saints by 3
Sale v Irish: Sale by 6
Gloucester v Leicester: Leicester by 7
Newcastle v Harlequins: Harlequins by 8
Worcester v Exeter: Exeter by 9

Ospreys v Glasgow Warriors

Just a single point in the table seperates Ospreys from Glasgow, with the two sides seventh and eighth coming into the latest round of PRO12 fixtures.

The home side are narrow favouries at 8/11 to Glasgow's 6/5, meaning we like the look of Glasgow holding the half-time lead before Ospreys come through to win at 13/2.

Rumbling number eight Dan Baker is an appealing first try scorer pick at 22/1 and after their poor performance at Exeter, we're backing the Ospreys to bounce back and win by 5 points.

Other PRO12 results:

Dragons v Leinster: Dragons by 8
Zebre v Munster: Munster by 5
Connacht v Scarlets: Connacht by 3
Treviso v Ulster: Ulster by 12
Blues v Edinburgh: Edinburgh by 5

Top 14

Clermont v Montpellier

Clermont, still reeling from that crazy final day of action in the Champions Cup, will be hungry to get back to winning ways on home soil at the Stade Marcel Michelin.

Aurélien Rougerie, the captain at outside centre, should provide plenty of inspiration as ever and is priced at 16/1 as the first try scorer.

South Africa's Bismarck du Plessis is working considering as a 13/2 anytime try scorer as well.

Even though Jake White's monster pack pose quite a challenge, we think Clermont wll find that response and win by eight points.

Other Top 14 results:

Brive v La Rochelle: Brive by 3
Agen v Grenoble: Grenoble by 7
Castres v UBB: UBB by 6
Racing 92 v Oyonnax: Racing by 13
Toulouse v Pau: Toulouse by 5
Toulon v Stade Français: Toulon by 8

Good luck!
