It is that time of the week when we put our heads on the chopping block with Planet Rugby's predictions.

After an entertaining opening two rounds of European action, it's back to domestic competitions on Friday through to Sunday as the PRO12, Premiership and Top 14 dominate our thinking.

As always, Paddy Power has ticked all the boxes in terms of rugby betting so here's a look at the best options to back before December.

PRO12

Edinburgh v Dragons

Straight away our eye was caught by the 5/1 price offered on Cornell du Preez crossing anytime as the South African has been in excellent scoring form of late. If you are feeling really confident then you can also get the number eight at 17/1 to score the game's opening try.

John Hardie is another player who is capable of crossing for Edinburgh in this home fixture and he is 6/1 in a match the Scots should win.

We like Edinburgh to win by 1-10 points at 9/5 as we don't think the Dragons will roll over late on, with attacking options on the bench.

Leinster v Ulster

This derby at the RDS is also a mouth-watering prospect and despite another defeat for Leinster at Bath last week, it was a much-improved showing that will give them confidence of taking the four points against an Ulster side that was floored by Saracens on their home patch.

Ian Madigan at 12 will help their attacking game alongside Jonny Sexton but they are up against a quality Ulster backline and we expect a response from the visitors. Therefore the plus 5 points on the handicap is worth taking for Ulster who are also 11/2 to win by 1-5 points.

Other PRO12 predictions:

Glasgow v Treviso: Glasgow by 25
Ospreys v Cardiff Blues: Ospreys by 10
Munster v Connacht: Munster by 5
Scarlets v Zebre: Scarlets by 12

Premiership

Leicester v Bath

The game of the weekend in the Premiership takes place at Welford Road where the Leicester scrum could be a deciding factor in the result. Marcos Ayerza has made a big difference since coming back into the side after World Cup duty, with a strong set-piece laying an excellent platform for the likes of Ben Youngs to implement Aaron Mauger's game-plan. We will take the half-time, full-time bet for Leicester here.

Bath will hope to keep a high tempo and use their lethal backline as much as possible, but Leicester also have backs with talent which is why we are backing both Niko Matawalu and Telusa Veainu to cross anytime for their respective side. Tom Youngs is also a good outside bet.

Other Premiership predictions:

Northampton v Gloucester: Northampton by 7
Sale v Newcastle: Sale by 10
Exeter v Harlequins: Exeter by 5
Saracens v Worcester: Saracens by 15
London Irish v Wasps: Wasps by 10

Top 14

Montpellier v La Rochelle

La Rochelle rested several first-team players in their Challenge Cup loss to Gloucester and they all return this week for the round opener against Montpellier, who cruised past Calvisano. It won't be easy for Montpol and we therefore like the plus 12 handicap for the visitors.

Montpellier to win at 1/6 isn't worth touching but if you want to possibly put them in an accumulator, the 2/5 offered on half-time, full-time is a decent bet. La Rochelle will offer stern resistance though, which is why we think under on total points (46.5) is a wise punt.

Other Top 14 predictions:

Racing 92 v Toulouse: Racing 92 by 8
Oyonnax v Brive: Oyonnax by 5
Bordeaux-Bègles v Pau: Bordeaux-Bègles by 15
Agen v Castres: Castres by 9
Clermont v Toulon: Clermont by 3
Grenoble v Stade Français: Grenoble by 5
