Leinster have confirmed that new signing Ben Te’o will be out for around six weeks after undergoing facial surgery.

Leinster Rugby have confirmed that as a result of a fractured forearm suffered in the first half of the Pro12 game against Edinburgh, centre Ben Te’o had an operation on Saturday morning.

The operation was a success, however Te’o is expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks depending on his recovery.

Te’o was making his first senior appearance for the club since joining the Pro12 champions from the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NRL.

Another new signing, Kane Douglas, also had to be taken off in the first half and will be assessed by the Leinster medical team as part of the return to play protocols.
