Ten-try victory for London Irish

A rampant London Irish got their European Rugby Challenge Cup season off to an ideal start on Sunday as they thumped Rovigo 70-14.

London Irish opened their European Rugby Challenge Cup charge with an ideal result on Sunday as they beat Rovigo 70-14 at Madejski Stadium.

Topsy Ojo bagged a first-half hat-trick as Irish outscored the their Italian visitors ten tries to two.

The bonus point was secured before half time as the home side went into the break leading 28-0, with Myles Dorrian also touching down. Fly-half Dorrian went on to convert all ten tries.

Luke Mahoney provided some respite early in the second half when he scored Rovigo’s first try of the one-sided contest, while Andrea de Marchi also scored a consolation try at the death.
