Toulon fly-half Quade Cooper feels his side are "on the right track" after they beat Wasps in a pivotal clash in the Champions Cup pools.
The reigning champions won 15-11 on Sunday thanks to a late Drew Mitchell score, with Cooper also crossing the line at Stade Felix Mayol.
And despite coming close to losing to the English outfit for the second time in the group stage, Cooper was in buoyant mood at full-time.
"We feel we played a lot better this week and it feels good beating them. In England they really gave it to us," he told EPC Rugby.
"We knew they would come back at us in the second half and so we were happy to get the win. Now we need to continue on in England next weekend.
"We are on the right track – we are winning games and the team is beginning to gel. But it is still early days and all we want to do is work hard and continue to get better.
"We know there is a lot more to come because we have a lot of talented players here. We are staying tight as a team."
The result means Toulon currently lead the pool, a point ahead of Wasps, as they go to Bath in next week's final round of games needing a win to finish on top.
"It's going to be a very difficult game in Bath," added Cooper. "All we want to do is keep on improving and start to find a way to win games away from home."
