This was the Lions' sixth straight defeat as the Makos were simply too good for them, running in five tries against the top flight's basement side.

Robbie Malneek, James Lowe (2), Alex Ainley and Pete Samu were Tasman's scorers as they move up to second in the ITM Cup Premiership table.

In reply, Tolu Fahamokioa and Eric Sione were Wellington's scorers but in truth the game was over by 50 minutes as the Makos led 35-6.

Next week Wellington face a difficult visit to Counties Manukau while Tasman host Otago.
