Taranaki thump Turbos

Taranaki completely dominated their ITM Cup hosts in Palmerston North on Saturday, beating Manawatu 44-10 at Arena Manawatu.

In a remarkable turnaround in form, Taranaki are now up to third in the standings as they recorded their sixth straight victory in the competition.

Their final game of the regular-season is against Tasman, who are fourth.

Taranaki's bonus-point win saw tries scored by wing Jackson Ormond, full-back Kurt Baker, number eight Toa Halafihi, centre Charlie Ngatai and lock Blade Thomson, with Codey Rei kicking thirteen points while Liam McBride slotted two penalties.

In reply, the Turbos' lone try-scorer was openside flanker Callum Gibbins with fly-half Otere Black goaling a conversion and penalty in a disappointing result for the basement dwellers, who are two points adrift of second-bottom Waikato.
