Leicester full-back Mathew Tait is set to join Bayonne on a two-year deal at the end of the season, according to reports in France.

The World Cup finalist is being earmarked as a replacement for Scott Spedding, the newly-capped French international who is expected to depart at the end of the campaign, with Montpellier favourites for his signature.

Tait, who is still just 28, won the last of his 38 England caps back in 2010 in Australia, having made his debut at the age of 19 against Wales.

He has been with Leicester since 2011, but injuries have disrupted his time at the club.

According to RMC Sport he will join the Basque side on a two-year contract, where he will link up with the likes of Joe Rokocoko, who recently signed a new deal.

Bayonne are currently tenth in the Top 14 ahead of a trip to La Rochelle this weekend.
