The Sunwolves have named a very different side that played in Super Rugby last season to play the Hurricanes in Tokyo on Saturday.
New Sunwolves Head coach Filo Tiatia has had some mainstays to work but otherwise has named a new-look run on side compared to 2016’s outfit.
South African utility back Riaan Viljoen will start at full-back while he is joined by new signings Takaaki Nakazuru from the Suntory Sungoliaths and Kenki Fukuoka from Panasonic Wild Knights on the wings.
In the centres New Zealand-born Derek Carpenter starts at inside centre with new recruit Timothy Lafaele starting in the 13 jersey.
In the half-backs, another new signing Hikaru Tamura takes the 10 jersey while at scrum-half Keisuke Uchida will start at nine.
Former Cheetahs loose forward Willie Britz starts number eight with Ed Quirk in the seven jersey and Malgene Ilaua at blindside flanker.
Ex Western Force second-rower Sam Wykes will scrum down in the five jersey while he will bind up with Liaki Moli.
In the front-row, Sunwolves leader Shota Horie will start at hooker with Heiichiro Ito and Masataka Mikami
on either side of him.
