Springboks and Cheetahs flanker Teboho 'Oupa' Mohoje is set to sidelined for up to three months due to injury.
Mohoje tore groin muscle in last weekend Super Rugby defeat to the Crusaders in Christchurch and the latest news to emerge from the Cheetahs camp is that the 24-year-old requires surgery.
The blindside flank has headed back to Bloemfontein to consult with a specialist and is expected to he out of action for at least eight to twelve weeks, meaning his Super Rugby season may well be over and throwing his participation in the World Cup into doubt.
"He is one of our Springboks, so it is a big blow for us," Cheetahs coach Nake Drotske told supersport.com.
Shimlas flanker Tienie Burger has been called into the Cheetahs squad ahead of this weekend's clash against the Chiefs.
Drotske has also confirmed that Springboks Coenie Oosthuizen and Willie le Roux will be rested this weekend in accordance with the agreement with SARU while scrum-half Sarel Pretorius is also back in South Africa for the birth of his second child.
