France full-back Scott Spedding will join Top 14 leaders Clermont at the end of the season from struggling Bayonne.
The South-African born 28-year-old has been in France since 2008, spending four years at Brive before joining Bayonne in 2012.
His impressive form was rewarded with a call-up to the French squad in November, and he made an impact on debut with a great all-round display against Fiji.
Spedding will finish the season aiming to help Bayonne avoid the drop, before joining Clermont on a three-year deal.
“We’ve been following Scott and been in contact with him for a number of seasons,” said Clermont sporting director Jean-Marc Lhermet.
“We’re very pleased to have a player of his quality and consistency join the club.”
Spedding will replace fellow French international Jean-Marcellin Buttin, who is heading to Bordeaux-B
