Australia and Waratahs star back Israel Folau was spotted with his agent meeting a representative from the NRL on Wednesday.

The Sydney Morning Herald obtained a photograph of Folau and his agent Isaac Moses in discussions with the NRL's head of football, Todd Greenberg, in Sydney.

Folau has been the top try scorer in Super Rugby in 2014 and made a huge impact on Test rugby with the Wallabies, after switching to Union following stints in Rugby League and the AFL.

An NRL spokesman told the Sydney Morning Herald that the meeting was purely a chance encounter between the three parties.

“Mr Greenberg ran into Israel Folau, who he knows well, while heading to the coffee shop and they had an unplanned catch up. It was not a business discussion.”

Suspicions though are bound to grow within the Australian Rugby Union given the presence of Folau's agent at the meeting.

A number of NRL clubs are likely to be interested in bringing Folau back to League, with another Wallaby in Kurtley Beale also being targeted.
