Spain have beaten Russia in the Dublin Women’s Sevens Cup final 19-12, which sees them qualify for the Rio Olympics.
Patricia Garcia scored twice and slotted two conversions as Spain outscored their opponents by three tries to two.
Garcia’s contribution of 14 of her side’s 19 points helped Spain to claim the final Olympic spot that will take place in August in Rio.
Spain’s first half performance laid the platform for the victory as the players headed into the break with Spain enjoying a 14-7 lead. Russia’s brave fightback in the second half was not enough to reduce the deficit.
The Spain Women’s side join their male counterparts as both will participate in this year’s Olympics in Rio.
