Edinburgh head coach Alan Solomons has praised his players after their 24-10 victory over the Dragons at Murrayfield on Saturday.

Tim Visser and Dougie Fife scored tries in the victory, which was Edinburgh’s first triumph since they edged out Munster on the opening day of the season.

The win over the Dragons sees Edinburgh move above their opponents in the standings and Solomons believes his side have now turned a corner after four successive losses.

“I think what has carried them through is their character,” he told The Scotsman.

“I think the morale in the side has carried them through.

“Obviously the knocks that they get from outside the group knocked their confidence but the morale has been great.

“And that is why I say, when you come into these situations, it’s a tribute to the morale of the side and a tribute to the character of the players the way they played.

“And to be honest we should have had three tries. Viss missed the ball and Hamish Watson could have scored it.

“We created the opportunities in this game – I thought the boys did really, really well.”
