It will have been an emotional day for Dan Carter, Richie McCaw, Will Genia and James Horwill. Here is what they and others said about the quartet.

Super Rugby great is a term thrown around but for these four it would be tough not to put them into that bracket after several titles and fond memories galore.

Carter will move on to Racing 92 after the Rugby World Cup. Here is how the Crusaders fly-half is feeling after the victory over the Brumbies in Canberra.

Please leave your messages to the players in the comments section below.

Meanwhile, openside flanker McCaw bows out with 100 Super Rugby wins to go with 100 Test wins.

Over in Sydney, Genia and Horwill have played their last games for the Reds as the scrum-half and second-row head north to France and England respectively after the Rugby World Cup, Wallaby selection permitting of course.

Later on we will also bid farewell to Sharks forwards Bismarck du Plessis, Willem Alberts and Jannie du Plessis. Check back with us then to see how social media responded to that Bok trio's final match in the black jersey at Kings Park.
