Saracens have confirmed that England centre Brad Barritt "will be sidelined for several weeks" by an ankle injury suffered in their win over Wasps.
Barritt had been tipped to start for England this weekend in the Calcutta Cup clash against Scotland but with just two games left in the Championship, it appears he will not feature in England colours again until the World Cup warm-up clashes.
The Saracens centre has only just returned from a knee ligament injury but damaged his ankle and knee when his foot was trapped under Wasps fly-half Andy Goode after both fell to the ground from jumping for a high ball.
"@bradbarritt will not require surgery on his injured ankle but will be sidelined for several weeks," tweeted Saracens on Monday.
The news means Luther Burrell could well continue at inside centre for the game against Scotland at Twickenham on Saturday.
