Connacht have suffered a blow after it was confirmed that hooker Jason Harris-Wright had ruptured the ACL in his right knee in victory over Zebre.

Harris-Wright was replaced on the half-hour mark during last weekend’s PRO12 clash after going down at the Sportsground with a knee injury.

An MRI was performed on the 26-year-old hooker on Tuesday and the medical team for Connacht confirmed the worst that he requires surgery.

Harris-Wright is set to be out for up to six months.

“I am so disappointed for Jason because he has just come off a long-term injury,” said head coach Pat Lam, speaking to Connacht‘s website.

“He had got himself into great shape and was playing really well, hence the reason he started last week. It is terrible news for him.

“But from talking with Jason he knows that he has the best Strength and Conditioning, and medical team to get him back in to the right frame over the coming months. He’ll still be very much part of the team once he begins his rehab.”
