Shoulder injury hits Van der Merwe

Scarlets have suffered an injury blow after wing DTH van der Merwe was ruled out for the rest of the PRO12 season due to a shoulder injury.

The Canada international star, who scored four tries in four games during the 2015 Rugby World Cup pool stage, was injured against Glasgow.

According to BBC Sport, 29-year-old finisher Van der Merwe will meet with a specialist this week but his season with the Scarlets now over.

Scarlets currently sit in fifth place in the PRO12 standings and are battling with Ulster for a top four spot and the subsequent play-offs.
