The Sharks and Western Province have both been dealt injury setbacks ahead of the Currie Cup Final in Durban on Saturday.

Sharks wingSbu Nkosi was removed from play after 65 minutes in Saturday’s 37-27 win over the Blue Bulls in Durban in the semi-finals.

“It looks like he’s dislocated his elbow. He’s gone to hospital so we’ll see if there is any fracture,” Sharks coach Robert Du Preez told Sport24.

Nkosi has eight tries to his name in the Currie Cup this year, with many touting the 21-year-old to be included in the Springbok squad for the upcoming end-of-year tour.

Meanwhile, Western Province centre EW Viljoen will also miss out on Saturday’s final.

Viljoen suffered a hamstring strain in the first half of his side’s 19-5 semi-final victory over the Golden Lions at Newlands this past weekend.

Werner Kok came on for him in the 35th minute, and Ruhan Nel moved from wing to midfield.

WP Rugby’s official website confirmed that Viljoen will not play the final at Kings Park.

Flanker Jaco Coetzee is also an injury concern for Western Province, as he suffered a knock to the head in the same match.
