The current form of the Sharks players has grabbed the attention of Hurricanes forwards coach John Plumtree.

The 50-year-old New Zealander, who was at the helm of the Durban side from 2008 until 2012, has recently extended his contract with the 2015 Super Rugby finalists.

The Hurricanes are set to face the Sharks at Kings Park on Saturday and Plumtree has applauded the depth of the current talent pool available at the franchise.

Plumtree is not the only Wellington side staff member that will make his return to his former employer, head coach Chris Boyd was an assistant to former head coach Dick Muir between 2006 and 2008.

"Willie le Roux also plays a big role in their success and he is someone that should always be carefully watched on attack," Plumtree told Netwerk24 ahead of the game.

"If they can manage to keep this bunch of young players together, they could develop into a top team."
