The Bulls have been struck by a blow after wing Lionel Mapoe was ruled out for the remainder of the Super Rugby campaign due to a shoulder injury.
The versatile outside back sustained the injury on Saturday during his franchise's important 30-25 success over the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.
According to Bulls team doctor, Org Strauss, the player will be out for at least six to eight weeks, but if operated upon, may miss the season run-in.
“Lionel will see a specialist on Tuesday, who will decide what the next step is. He had a scan today which showed some damage,” he told the Bulls.
In better news for the Bulls, centre Francois Venter, who recently had a groin operation, will be fit once the squad assemble again after a bye.
