Season over for Eastmond

Wasps have confirmed that Kyle Eastmond will miss the rest of the season, after tearing his Achilles tendon during last Sunday’s game.

The centre is expected to be back in time for the start of the 2017/18 season.

Following the injury sustained against Gloucester, Eastmond has undergone routine surgery to repair his Achilles tendon, which went well, with no complications anticipated.

He is expected to be sidelined for six months, which will unfortunately rule him out of the remainder of Wasps’ 2016/17 campaign.

“It’s obviously really disappointing for Kyle that he will miss the rest of the season and I really feel for him, because it came at a time when he was really starting to find his feet in this side and get a good run of games under his belt,” said boss Dai Young.

“The good news is that the operation was as straightforward as it can be with this type of injury and that Kyle is expected to make a full recovery, hopefully being back ahead of the new season.

“Kyle will be a big loss for us as we go into this last part of the season, but we are lucky to have a very competitive group of backs and this will give other players the opportunity to step up, which they have consistently done as a group already this year.”
