Munster number eight Robin Copeland has been ruled out for the remainder of the PRO12 season as he requires a shoulder stabilisation procedure.
The 27-year-old met with a specialist on Monday who confirmed the news.
Copeland sustained the injury against Leinster on December 26 and since then the number eight has been unable to play for the Guinness PRO12 province.
Munster have, however, received better news on centre Andrew Smith and back-row CJ Stander, who will return to full training at some point this week.
Johne Murphy, Cian Bohane and Donnacha Ryan are making good progress with their respective recoveries while Dave Kilcoyne and Luke O'Dea reported no ill effects following their return to action on Saturday against Cardiff Blues.
