Chiefs second-rower Michael Allardice has been ruled out of the Super Rugby season following an injury which he sustained during the mid-week clash with Wales a few weeks ago.

The Hawkes Bay player, who made his debut for the Chiefs in 2015, injured his right knee in the 40-7 victory over Wales in Hamilton a few weeks back.

Allardice has since undergone an operation on his knee after it was reported to have a torn meniscus and is expected to be out of action for up to four months.

This is the 24-year-old player's second lengthy injury, in 2015 a ruptured medial ligament in the other knee also ended his Super Rugby season.
