Former Scotland Sevens captain Colin Gregor has been forced to call time on his career because of injury.

The 34-year-old has hung up his boots after failing to overcome a knee injury.

Gregor won 58 caps for Scotland Sevens and appeared at two Commonwealth Games, including the 2014 edition on home soil in Glasgow. He finishes as the third-highest points scorer in Sevens World Series history with 1345.

He spent seven years with Glasgow Warriors between 2004 to 2011.

"I will miss playing professional rugby and the opportunities the sport has given me to play in these incredible competitions," he said.

"However, as one door closes another opens. I'm excited by what the future holds and I can look back on my career with fond memories."
