Glasgow Warriors prop Ryan Grant has replaced Edinburgh’s Allan Dell in the Scotland squad for their November Tests.

Dell sustained a leg injury in Edinburgh’s Pro12 defeat to Leinster at the RDS in Dublin at the weekend.

He was assessed at St Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin and returned the next day to Edinburgh with the rest of the team.

He is currently under the care of medical staff at Spire Murrayfield and will undergo surgery at the earliest opportunity, after which timelines for recovery will be determined.

Grant, who toured Australia with the 2013 British and Irish Lions, has made a timely return after shoulder surgery in May.

He made a man-of-the-match winning comeback in professional rugby as the starting loosehead in the Warriors’ PRO12 win over Treviso at Scotstoun on Friday.

Scotland’s November Test campaign gets underway at Murrayfield this Saturday against Argentina (8 November), before facing Rugby Championship winners New Zealand, at the same venue (15 November), followed by Tonga at Rugby Park, Kilmarnock (22 November).
