Ireland coach Joe Schmidt was quick to distance himself from the potential coaching role at England.
Following England's early exit for the World Cup, head coach Stuart Lancaster could be let go of his contract, pending an investigation by the Rugby Football Union.
Reports suggest that Schmidt, who guided Ireland to Six Nations glory this year, could be in the pound seat to replace Lancaster.
However, the New Zealander quickly refuted the claims, adding that he suppoerted Lancaster.
"I don't know where that's come from at all," said the 50-year-old.
"Externally, I'd be a fan of Stuart Lancaster as a person and what he's trying to build there.
"If we'd lost last weekend it could be someone else being propositioned for my job. Stuart is a first-class character. I certainly wouldn't be going after his job."
