The Scarlets outscored Connacht four tries to one to record a convincing 32-14 win in Sunday's Pro12 clash at Parc Y Scarlets.

Pat Lam's men actually took the lead through Jack Carty but tries from Michael Tagicakibau, Harry Robinson and Jordan Williams put the Welsh region well on top.

Carty reduced the arrears with a penalty just before the interval and was again on target from the tee minutes into the second period to give the Irish province hope.

However, James Davies' score sealed the bonus-point as they moved level on points with Connacht in the table. Niyi Adeolokun did go over for the visitors but it failed to negate the frustrations of this defeat.

The visitors have enjoyed an excellent season in 2014/15 and are in contention to qualify for the European Champions Cup. They started brightly here with Carty kicking a penalty after just four minutes.

John Barclay was then yellow carded for the hosts as Wayne Pivac's side struggled to get to grips with the game early on. However, they soon settled into a rhythm and they won the sin-bin period 6-0 through two Steven Shingler penalties.

Connacht were now struggling to cope with the pace the hosts were playing at and Tagicakibau rewarded their endeavour by touching down.

To their credit, the visitors were also looking to move the ball through the hands, but they didn't have the precision of the Scarlets who duly went over for the second time through Robinson.

Now 15 points down, the Irish province began to force the pass and it was no surprise to see an intercept try occur as Williams scampered 90 metres to cross the whitewash.

Having shipped 25 points since the opening score of the match, Lam's team at least managed to stop the haemorrhaging through Carty's three-pointer on the half-time whistle.

The fly-half added his third from the tee soon into the second period, but they were seemingly powerless to halt the Scarlets when they entered the 22.

Davies touched down for the bonus-point to effectively end the match as a contest before John Muldoon was sin-binned for the visitors.

Pivac's side were unable to add to their tally while the opposition were a man down and it was the Irish province who had the final word through Adeolokun.
