Scarlets scrum-half Gareth Davies will be out for three months with a knee injury, meaning he will miss all of Wales’ November Tests.

The 24-year-old made his international debut against South Africa in June, but will now miss all of the November series after doing damage to his posterior cruciate ligament.

He suffered the injury while in action for the Scarlets against the Dragons this weekend, however he will not need surgery.

It’s a blow for the Welsh region, who kick of their European Champions Cup campaign on Sunday with a daunting trip to Toulon.

“Gareth is a strong player for us and last season he was the league’s top try scorer,” said Scarlets coach Wayne Pivac.

“Along with Ken Owens and Regan King, they are three front line players who have been missing for us.

“All those players for us are a blow.

“But we have to focus on the guys who are available and make sure we put our best foot forward.”
