Scarlets have confirmed the signing of former Otago player Michael Collins on a short-term deal.
The 22-year-old arrived in Wales this week after Otago were knocked out of the ITM Cup Championship in the semi-final with a defeat to Wellington.
Collins performances during the year's ITM Cup caught the attention of Scarlets coach, Wayne Pivac who brought him in as injury cover for Wales duo Scott Williams and Liam Williams, who were both injured during the World Cup.
"Michael is a versatile player with a good skillset who has played in the midfield and full-back for Otago in the ITM Cup.
"He has been brought in to cover injuries to Scott and Liam and we're looking forward to welcoming him to West Wales and to the Scarlets."
