Scarlets boss Wayne Pivac has admitted that the region have spoken with Crusaders flyer Johnny McNicholl about a move to Wales.
McNicholl has been in top form for the Crusaders in recent weeks, impressing on their recent tour of South Africa and Australia with tries against the Lions and Force.
The rapid 25-year-old would add plenty of firepower to a Scarlets backline already featuring the likes of DTH van der Merwe and Liam Williams, with Jonathan Davies returning from Clermont as well later this year.
Addressing the speculation linking McNicholl with a move to Parc y Scarlets, Pivac simply stated that the Crusaders wing was one of a number of players the Scarlets have spoken to as they look to bolster their squad.
“We haven’t finalised the squad for next season but we aren’t far off,” Pivac told WalesOnline.
“We are not in a position yet but we are hoping to announce one or two others before the season finishes.
“That is a name that has been mentioned but there are other players, along with him, that I have spoken to.
“But outside back is a position we are looking to fill.”
