Julian Savea is the most dangerous scoring threat in international rugby but he insists he will always be behind Jonah Lomu.

The current All Black winger was responding to praise from his coach Steve Hansen, who claimed he was better than Lomu before Saturday’s clash with England at Twickenham.

Savea scored two tries against the USA last weekend to move to 29 tries in 30 Tests for the All Blacks, and will take on an England team on Saturday against whom he has scored eight tries in just four games.

However despite his prolific Test career to date, Savea still believes that Lomu, who finished with 37 tries for the All Blacks, will always be the best of the lot.

“Everyone has their own opinion. For Steve [Hansen] to say that I’m better … it was an honour and a privilege to be compared to him [Lomu].

“But to me personally, no one is better than Jonah. He was my idol growing up. I had his haircut.

“He changed the game back in his era and inspired a lot of kids as well. No one is ever going to be better than Jonah. He’s one in a million.”
