Saracens sweep Sale aside

Saracens made it three from three in the Champions Cup with a one-sided 50-3 victory over Sale at Allianz Park on Saturday.

Saracens were looking for their 12th European win in a row against Sale as they welcomed back several key players. Tries from Marcelo Bosch and Sean Maitland bolstered by three penalties from Owen Farrell and one from Bosch handed Saracens a commanding lead in the first half.

Alan MacGinty nicked three points back for the visitors but there was little else for Sharks fans to cheer about as they went into the break 26-3 behind.

Jamie George and Chris Wyles bagged tries in the second half to secure a bonus point for the home side. Maitland went over for a second, and Richard Barrington scored late to put the game well beyond a shell shocked Sale side with the final score 50-3.

Sarries are now only one Champions Cup victory away from equalling Munster's record of 13 wins in a row in the competition. Farrell kicked the reigning champions into an early 6-0 lead, but MacGinty halved that lead with a penalty of his own ten minutes in.

Bosch dummied his way through for the games first try, and Farrell couldn't miss with a conversion in front of the posts. Laurance Pearce was sent to the sin-bin for a late hit on Farrell, who made it 16-3 with the subsequent penalty.

Some excellent hands from the Sarries backline saw Maitland go over for a second, Farrell made no mistake with the conversion. A long range shot at the posts from Bosch made it 26-3 going into half time.

Jonathan Mills became the second Sale player to see yellow early in the second half. George rode the back of a lineout maul for Sarries' third, Alex Lozowski couldn't manage the conversion.

Alex Goode found Wyles with an inch perfect grubber down the line for the bonus-point try. Lozowski bagged the conversion from out wide. Some great footwork from Maitland saw him go over for his second and Lozowski hit the crossbar with the conversion.

James Flynn was sent to the bin late on for a high tackle. Barrington got himself on the scoresheet with a pick and go in the games final minutes. Lozowski converted to seal an impressive win for Saracens.
